Agronutris welcomes its first insects in Rethel

Agronutris , the fisrt French biotechnology company specialized in the breeding ans processing insects for food, is welcoming its first insects to its first industrial site in Rethel (Ardennes).

The Agronutris team in Rethel, recently trained, welcomed its first insects to the company’s new industrial site a few weeks ago. These insects, wich have arrived at the larval stage on site in recent weeks, are intented to test and validate the various stages and equipment of the breeding phase. This part of the process aims to produce the quantity of eggs necessary to ensure the breeding, bioconversion, ans transformation of insects into protein flour and animal fat. 

The Agronutris teams dedicated to maintenance and production have already taken ownership of the facilities and equipment. Special attention has been paid to the quality and training of new employees. 

In accordance with projections, the first commercial products will be released in mid-2023. Ultimately, the Rethel site will valorize 70,000 tons of by-products from the local agri-food industry each year.
